[...] Both names, along with three other choices were first announced when voting opened. It quickly became clear that two choices were going to be battling down to the final votes. The lobbying and discussion was heated among the two favorites. It seems some voters wanted a professional sounding name and inBubbleNet with 31.6% of the votes, matched nicely. The other position was that eventual winner, BubHub, with 37.3% of the votes, was a unique, catchy and fun. Some of the Boston and non-Boston voters felt that BubHub was just to Beantown sounding.
[...] Today BubHub comes out of stealth mode. Techlife readers may recall helping name the business networking group and things going quiet. BubHub springs from the end of inBubbleWrap, a site about business books and growing smarter in business. The leader inBubbleGuy, is stepping down from his post of writing a daily blog about the books and giving them away to readers. [...]

I'm on a last-minute push for inBubbleHub as an option!

I re-read my earlier post - I feel like I should have added a smiley after the "you don't know Seth" comment.

In case it came across as b*tchy, my apologies

The Bostonians seem to think BubHub is to Bahst'n, but to someone from the midwest, I don't even know what they're talking about. BubHub gets my vote.

see.... your story makes me want to re-choose BubHub! Because you WANT people to interrupt you and say, "whoa! wow! Bub what?"

If you aren't interesting, it's not worth saying.

BubHub is more Purple Cow than inBN.... and if you're not sure about that reference, you don't know Seth

Exactly! I'd much rather say "I learned yesterday in my inBubbleNet that Company ABC is being quite innovating in its....whatever" than have to say "I learned yesterday in my BubHub..."

The point of my story would be lost as people interrupt me to ask, "What did you saay? What the heck is a BubHub? Is it a Bos'n thing?"

But, if I say inBubbleNet, then they'll know I'm part of an interesting Network, and based on the contact of the REST of my statement, they'll ask to join our inBubbleNet :)

I lived in Boston for 10 years, I still get asked to say "park the car in harvard yard". i'd rather that not get in the way of a networking group.

After much thought, I've switched my vote to inBubbleNet. If inBubbleHub was an option, I'd prefer that because I love the idea of a hub - center of all the action. But, BubHub might not have enough to connect to the inBubble

Well, I agree with half the consensus -- BubHub sounds more like a place I'd go down in the North End or in the 'burbs inside the I-95 belt for a cup of chowdah and a Sam seasonal (yes, I do actually live in Beantown). The pun on bub -> suds really calls for the pouring of a pint of Sam Adams (not a bad thing).

While BubHub is fun, and while I dig Dave McCoy's clever play on 'hubbub', let's remember that this is a *business* networking site. I (hope) I'm as fun as the next guy, but it's even funnerer to be silly and professional at the same time. Also, when I describe iBW as a "fun business site" note that the professional part of that is 2.67 times the length of the enjoyable part ;-)

For these carefully considered reasons, inBubbleNet (iBN) gets my vote! I mean, c'mon, it's still a business networking site that has the world 'bubble' in it and still doesn't refer to either the stock market or the housing market...

I hope for inBubblenet.

BubHub is too close to StubHub, and doesn't sound business like at all. I can't imagine telling anyone I am a member of BubHub. It just doesn't sound professional...
