BubHub wins the Name a Networking Group Poll - Now needs identity
Posted by Dave Kaufman under Blogs , Informational , Reader Emails
Choice 1
Choice 2
Choice 3
There’s a new free business networking group formed from a partnership between TechLife and inBubbleWrap. We are pleased to announce the winner of our “Name the Group” vote is BubHub, in what turned out to be a two-horse race between inBubbleNet and the eventual winner.
We now need the voters help again to choose the identity for BubHub. This badge will represent BubHub in various uses. There are three choices, please choose an identity that most resembles BubHub. Voting is open until Friday, March 16th at 530pm CT.
Let us know your which choice you voted for and why in the comments.
Both names, along with three other choices were first announced when voting opened. It quickly became clear that two choices were going to be battling down to the final votes. The lobbying and discussion was heated among the two favorites. It seems some voters wanted a professional sounding name and inBubbleNet with 31.6% of the votes, matched nicely. The other position was that eventual winner, BubHub, with 37.3% of the votes, was a unique, catchy and fun. Some of the Boston and non-Boston voters felt that BubHub was just to Beantown sounding.
One Nation Under Bubble had 15% of the vote, as a distant third. Closely followed by inBubble Connection with 11.7% of the vote. Rounding out the voting was inBubbleHead Network with 4.4% of the vote. Surprisingly, during the nomination process inBubbleHead Network was the most suggested name but clearly didn’t have the legs to carry it further in the race.
Don’t forget to vote for the identity and tell us which one you voted for and why in the comments.

WE HAVE A WINNER!
OK, everyone tap a little drum roll on your desk. Ready? And the winning name of our forthcoming Business Networking Group is…
BubHub!
Thank you everyone for suggesting names and for voting. We had a great turnout. You are all swell indeed.
So now that we have a name, we naturally need a logo. Dave, who has done pretty much everything to organize all of this, has kindly whipped up three logos that we will now vote on. Thank you Dave! Here are your choices. Gaze at them longingly until you decide with which logo you would like to go steady.
#1.
#2.
#3.
Click here to vote for which logo you want displayed on our upcoming BubHub page.
And as we have done before, if you want to see what others are saying, if you want to debate the merits of each logo, or if you just want to converse with other like-minded folks, head on over to Dave’s Techlife Site and start conversing in the comments.

I picked #3 because I like the bubble better. …maybe it just looks better on the blue background. Anyway, that’s my choice….
I realize it’s after the fact, but I can’t help but say… Maybe we should have had a finalist approach to this contest… Narrow the choices to two and then choose between the two…

#3 - it looks cleaner. While I prefer green to blue the multiple bubbles on the small logo gives the appearance of too busy. My eyes, my thoughts…

@Lucinda - I thought about that after seeing how close it was, but unless you state that from the beginning it really isn’t fair. In addition, I want to get to the networking part of all this.
At the end of the day, I think we all win no matter if you love the name or would have rather had another choice. This is going to be a great group.

The reddish design has too many color changes, and has an “old” look to it for some reason. It’s a good choice if we go Retro.
The Green/Blue combination is nice buttt…reminds me of scrubbing bubbles and I don’t want to network in the toilet.
So…#3 it is!!

I wish I could have known about your site early enough to join and participate in your network group naming contest. But as it is, I Just LOVE BUBHUB and I look forward to your group!
.
About the logos — I liked #3, with blue background, the best because you could actually SEE a BUBBLE.

None of the logos have bubble wrap bubbles. :/

I liked #3 the best because it was crisp and clear - something that looked more like bubble wrap would have been cool. But you did an excellent job creating the logos - they were all very good.

Wow the early results here look like a landslide for #3.
@Arlene, PinkFu, Kata - in the space that small, all the bubble wrap imagery was less appealing. I did look at that as an option, it just didn’t make my final cut.

I will jump on the Blue Bandwagon here and vote for #3 as well. It is really the only one with the clarity that represents our highly evolved businesslike thought processes and conversational style.
HUH?
Ok, so it just looks the coolest.
And it is Blue.
#3 fer shure.

Quick update for everyone - the voter turnout in about 24 hours is nearly the same we had for the whole of the naming. I am glad to see people have such a passion for this group.
Keep lobbying and discussing your favorites and why…every vote counts.

Dave = tell us more about the cool networking we’re going to do!!

@Lucinda - Let’s just say even though I am your guide, I have set up something that I will need to keep quiet about until I get the go ahead for revealing. Cryptic? Sure.
We have waited 400+ offers so far, a few more and Bub Hub will have a big announcement.

I just have to say that we love the name Bub Hub - we have been running a successful website in Australia by that name for 5 years now - a ‘Bub’ being a baby in Australia.

[...] Today BubHub comes out of stealth mode. Techlife readers may recall helping name the business networking group and things going quiet. BubHub springs from the end of inBubbleWrap, a site about business books and growing smarter in business. The leader inBubbleGuy, is stepping down from his post of writing a daily blog about the books and giving them away to readers. [...]
