Dave,

Thank you for the great blog. As one of the founders of Rovair, and also a life long hotelier, the insipiration came to us from the poor internet service in hotels and nonexistent service in vacation homes.

Matt makes a good point, why pay the same amount in your hotel, and be stuck to you hotel room.

I can also attest to the fact that internet access in the hotel room is a deal when compared to what the hotel charges groups in the meeting rooms, sometimes in excess of $500 per person. mainly because they think that you don't have other choices, which you didn't until we launched about 5 months ago.

Our goal is not necessarily to be the least expensive alternative as some hotels give internet for free, but rather provide a more mobile solution with far superior customer service and connectivity.

Just a quick point to Dave's comments above. RovAir will not charge you overage fees unless we actually go over our monthly limit (5GB); therefore if you use 2GB in a week, but the other users in the month are not heavy users, then we won't bother with the charging the overage.

FYI, Sprint is still unlimited at last check. having become experts in the industry over the last year, Sprint's speeds are generally better than Verizon in metropolitan areas, but Verizon's high speed coverage is better in outlying areas.

Customer Service winner, we have had far fewer issues with Sprint, both carriers have been responsive with technical support issues.

Thank you again Dave!

@matt - I have heard the same issue from others on tethering or even worse some complain that when a call comes in it stops the internet connection (though I would think there is a setting for that.)

As for in-room internet. I have seen $15/day a pretty standard charge and if you are going to pay that why not be able to use it wherever and whenever you choose, not just in a hotel room. Thanks Matt.

Hi,
I have tried to tether and I was not able to talk on the phone at the same time. I like the sound of Rovair and will try them on my next trip. I was just in Las Vegas and the Bellagio charged me $15 per day for in room internet.
