Robot Chicken Star Wars - TitleAs a new television channel owner we are experimenting with our programming, and our promos. We are excited to share Star Wars Robot Chicken on Techlife TV. This is the full 26 minutes, including some pre-roll with Seth Green and his team, as they introduce each segment. We had recently covered Star Wars news that George Lucas is thinking about some new Star Wars movies. I am glad he not only put his weight behind the Robot Chicken project but was willing to appear as himself in it.

After you watch the show, there is a lot chatter to read about the show on review sites like Hot Air, The Movie Blog and even Crunch Gear getting in a review. But The Force.net had the best scoop, commentary from the producers about every skit in Robot Chicken Star Wars show. Well worth watching if you liked the show.

Robot Chicken Star Wars - Han SoloOverall: If you like Star Wars as much as these writers do, then all the jokes from Admiral Ackbar cereal to Yo Mama throwdown to the Cantina are really well done. Robot Chicken is a stop-motion, comedy sketch show with reference to many nostalgic toys and shows and airs on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim. It is in its third season. Did you like it? What was your favorite sketch? Let us know in the comments.

Thanks to our reader Dan for sending this. If you find something email us at reviewme [at] dkworldwide [dot] com.

Chime.tv's player screen allows you to easily navigate videos in many genres.

Have you ever wanted to program your own tv station? Now you can. Chime.tv, is the creation of Chirag Mehta and Taylor McKnight. The premise is simple, make video sites like Blip TV, Break.com, Daily Motion, Google Video, MetaCafe, MySpace, Veoh, & YouTube all available in one place.

Chime.tv Logo Chime.tv added a few other bells and whistles, such as the ability to create and program your own channel. Here is Techlife TV, a channel composed of videos we have blogged and others that Chime.tv helped us find.

They also have created a television like experience with videos grouped by subject matter, which is nice for finding what you want quickly and easily. Of course Chime.tv’s powerful search tools also make it easy to find very specific videos by subject or all the videos from a single website. (though it should let you create a channel from your search easily. feature request)

Thanks to Chime.tv I saw a lot of video that was entertaining and informative and just what I was looking for in web video service. Be sure to check out the video of a cell phone salesman singing Nessun Dorma, an opera, on Britain’s “You’ve Got Talent with Simon Cowell.” It was really amazing. If you find any great videos or make a great Chime.tv channel post here so we can all watch.

Overall: Chime.tv makes video easy and television like. It is a sure winner. Bookmark it.

Thanks to Techcrunch for the original

John X. Lewis, a talented musician posted this song, Love 2.0 to YouTube. I really like John’s masterful pop sound, and the creative lyrics. While the video gives visual clue to some of the bigger technology references, some of the smaller ones are just as creative. Techlife readers will appreciate the nod to various sites you like to visit and technologies you use everyday. If you have a question about any of them, please post it here and we can review that technology in an upcoming post.

My request to John is to offer up his songs as MP3s, thanks your new fan.

One more video after the jump.

Thanks to Valleywag for the post.

Bauns by Ferry HalimAs our readers know, Techlife believes in work hard, play hard. We often cover fun toys. Clearly our readers agree that games are important in their life too. Some of the most popular past topics here are based on Stick Arena and Line Rider. Other staff favorites are games like Chick Chick Boom and Guess the Google.
Today we bring you Bauns (translated to English it means Bounce). This game has a short learning curve and is quickly addictive (consider yourself warned.) You control a catapult-like launcher that can send a ball airborne. As it lands it erases any balls of the same color that are touching the color it lands on. Simple. Of course the designer Ferry Halim, threw a few tricks our way. There is a special timer ball and a color morphing ball, hit either of these two and special things start to happen to your board.

Our current high score is 16,622, which I suspect some of readers to quickly surpass. Post your high scores below. Do you like this game let us know?

Overall: Bauns is well crafted, with an easy to understand control system, just a mouse. I would have liked to see more special blocks that would cause havoc to the gameboard.

Call for submissions: Got a game that you love? Let us know and we will consider reviewing it. Tell us about it at: reviewmygame [at] dkworldwide [dot] com.

I know Skye Boyes and his team at XGen Studios are hard at work on Stick Arena Ballistick.  But after reading this article on Microsoft taking a hard stance against hackers on Xbox 360 and Xbox Live, I think Skye might devote some resources to the current generation of Stick Arena, a great game that people love to play.

I am a big fan and had been busy lately. I was looking forward to spending a break from reality in a quick multi-player browser game. Stick Arena is of course the best. I spent maybe all of 2 minutes in each arena, and constantly was dealing with hackers popping in and ruining my time. Eventually I just left, which is sad. We all want the next generation of gaming to get here soon from XGen, but not at the risk of losing gamers with the current product.

Skye and his team make their money from serving me ads, and I can tell you that I am less likely to sit and watch ads and play Stick Arena with the recent increase in hacking. It used to be tolerable, you report the hacker, leave the arena and move on to the next arena. Now the hackers seem to outnumber the non-hackers. Inmates running the asylum? I don’t think so. What do you think? Join the discussion.

Thanks to Engadget for making me aware of Microsoft’s stance.

Ewoks, Star Wars and George Lucas all made for TV?GeekBrief.tv just stunned me with this revelation, that George Lucas is making a new Star Wars movies, but this time for television! A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away Lucas made some lame Ewok movies. So bad they were, made for television only, with no theatricial release and apparently he wants to try that again. (I wonder if they will use this classic “worst trailer ever” styling.)

I did actually like the styling and story of the animated Clone Wars, but can live-action movies really work? As I write this I think with all the CGI characters these days it just might work. I remain on the fence, but of course will watch.
I am stunned Lucas would go this route. Are you? Comment here.

Chick Chick Boom Title Screen - Easy to play, and learn.

Techlife was lucky enough to land a Wii, (not that you would know since we have been so busy playing we haven’t reported on it yet. Shame on us.) But thanks to the Wii we have been reading the blog, Nintendo Wii Fanboy for our latest news. And boy do they pump out a lot.

Recently they covered a really cool game that is super addictive NOT FOR the Wii, but for your browser. I will repeat that this small game is super addictive, that’s your warning. Meet Chick Chick Boom, a game where you control air, ground and chemical warefare attacks on baby chicks. Sound too gruesome? Well it isn’t.

Chick Chick Boom Gameplay screen - Notice the elephants, how funny is that?

You likely have already seen the graphics with this article to see that the chicks are cute little circles. This game all about cute. From falling elephants to giving the chicks hard hats. The fast paced, easy to learn gameplay and light and airy soundtrack make it really addictive. Basically you just trace shapes in your defense or offense area and that determines what your attack or defense will be on the opposing chicks.

I quickly cruised through the first 10 levels and then in my first pro game I scored 12. I don’t really have a benchmark, so please post your high scores in Pro Mode of Chick Chick Boom.

Poologic.com's picks for the 2007 tournament.

Trust me you will thank Techlife later that you didn’t know about this site until after the tournament started. Poologic is a web site run by Tom Adams with the mission of:

This site is dedicated to helping you win your college basketball tournament office pool.

The NCAA March Madness Tournament always brings about stories about infallible systems for winning your office pool but this one takes the cake. Since you have all sorts of stories such as the one I heard on the radio about a little girl who picket Florida last year since she was going to Disneyworld later that spring, it is only fitting you have all sorts of websites providing advice on winning.

After finding the story titled, Web Site Uses Math to Pick NCAA Winners from the Associated Press on, I thought wow this is it…until you read the whole thing…

Beach by Darcy ToledoIt’s cold today. Makes you begin to envy those lucky folks who right at this minute are cavorting around in a bathing suit with a pina colada. A certain person we know is right now doing just that, and boy are they lucky. Which makes “friend of the show” Scubaology’s recent post on Travelisitic.com, videos for travelers, all that more inviting.

As you begin planning for a trip and are looking for more than the written word check out the mix of amateur and professional (some ads) videos for various destinations. Here’s a search on Caribbean, which had 74 videos and 14 blog posts listed. I watched this pretty entertaining one on St. Barths.

Stick Arena 3Skye Boye of XGen Studios makers of Stick ArenaToday TechLife‘s friend Skye Boyes stopped by with some thoughts. Skye is the principal of XGen Studios, makers of Stick Arena, the popular Flash game we previously covered.

Skye was happy to see all the discussion from fans of Stick Arena. He wanted to clear up a few things about the game. I liked what he had to say so I am publishing it here as well for all to read.

I also wanted to mention publicly that the original post even had one person so enraged that they commented with death threats. Needless to say I chose to not post those.

Now on with Skye’s Thoughts:

Guess the Google GameSometimes the simplest game is the best. Our friend SapiensBryan from Latest Hi Tech News, who you may remember from the Flat Panel LCD TV in 1 step, posted a link to a highly addictive game by Grant Robinson called Guess the Google.

The instructions are easy. You will be shown a montage of images that would show up if you typed in a query into Google Images. You can guess as many times as you want in 20 seconds. Guess the word get points and a bonus based on speed. There are 10 rounds. So simple, yet highly addictive.

*SPOILER ALERT* Here’s my hints

  1. Glance at the images as a whole you might get the right answer fast.
  2. No luck with the glance method? Look closely at a few you might see the word in the images.
  3. Still no luck, play again, I got a few words repeated in successive games and was able to get those fast.

Stunt Bike Draw

As Friends of Line Rider continues here at Techlife,  we bring you another  in the series: Stunt Bike Draw.  This game starts off pretty easy but gets more and more complex.  It reminds me a lot of  Snow Line,  as it is  very much a puzzle game with objectives for getting your Stunt Bike Rider to  jump  and land.  To bad they didn’t up the ante and get Evel Knievel’s permission.  Now that would have been cool.  What do you think of this game?

Line RiderWell it happened…Line Rider has gone corporate.  From the official site…

Line Rider was originally created by Boštjan Cadež, a Slovenian university student, in September of 2006. It almost immediately gathered a cult following and became the seventh quickest gaining keyword in Google. Since that time, the ‘toy’ has generated over 16 million views. Fans quickly noticed that they could create tracks, set them to music, and share them over YouTube.com. Currently, there are over 11,000 shared videos with many more to come. inXile Entertainment is extremely excited to work with Boštjan in order to reach the full potential that we feel the Line Rider application can live up to.

Seen over at the new Official Line Rider site.  It appears they are going to create a Nintendo DS and Nintendo Wii Line Rider game…coming sometime in 2007.  In the meantime, check out the new Beta 2 they have up.  I think this video is from Beta 1, but the inXile folks liked it.

books, books by Sanja GjeneroBack in November, Techlife shared Daily Lit with our inner circle, when I posted some beta testing comments for them.  I continued using DailyLit.  (More on that below the jump…)

First what is DailyLit? Their tagline sums it up best: “Too busy for books? Read them by e-mail.”  What books you might ask?  A lot.  My last count was more than 250 titles.  But here’s the smart thing, who wants “War and Peace” by Leo Tolstoy as a giant email attachment.  It would be crazy!  So Daily Lit breaks it down into manageable parts.  Granted this literary work is broken down into 675 parts one of the largest but other books are quite a bit less.

The break down is your call.  “Daily” is most common but you can accelerate that if you really like a book with a simple click.

Line RiderWell…Santa Claus is done with presents for 2006.  But no rest for the weary, he’s right back to collecting presents for 2007.  You didn’t get a Wii or  Playstation 3?  Or even an X-box 360?  Never fear, Santa’s got your back.  If you could just lend him a hand.

Snow Line, another in our Friends of Line Rider series is a game built on the Line Rider engine.  If you liked Lemmings (bonus browser friendly game!) and Line Rider then you will like this puzzle based game.  I got to level 5 before I realized I needed to get this column written.  How far did you get?
